Ownership

A. Dunn Systems Corporation was founded by Managing Director Andrew Michael Dunn in 1987 as a privately-held, 100% Canadian corporation. Share ownership is restricted to those who take an active role in the day to day operation of the company.

History

From its beginnings in Brampton, Ontario in 1987, the company has catered to the needs of small and medium sized businesses, providing everything from day to day consulting services and needs assessments, to custom software development and network and communications support.

In 1989 the company moved its base of operations to Kitchener, Ontario, and began to provide network support and vertical application development services to a number of small, non-profit organizations located in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and Stratford.

By 1991 the company had grown to a full-time enterprise with a staff of three. Larger development and support projects for clients of increasing size became possible to manage, as the company developed its expertise. Also in 1991, the company discovered the appeal of the Internet, venturing into a local co-operative to bring the Internet to the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

The year 1994 saw the first major focus shift, with the move into the field of integrated communications. The first major project involving Computer Telephony Integration saw the company help develop a small, local telephone company into a major telecommunications player, and opened up the world of CTI. To better serve the Toronto area market, the company moved to its present location of Bolton, Ontario, within easy reach of the Greater Toronto Area but still a comfortable drive from existing clients in Guelph, Waterloo, and Hamilton.

By 1998 the company had recognized the enormous growth potential of the Internet, and the gap between the need of small businesses to be 'on the net' and the tools available to them. Development of the AEGIS product line began under the project name ECHOS, and in the year 2000 the AEGIS Development Environment was released, bringing a set of feature-rich, easy to use tools for cross-platform and distributed application development tailor-made for the Internet arena.

In 2003, the portfolio expanded again to provide hosted Internet and eCommerce solutions ranging from order management, online sales, and member database services to electronic mail and messaging offerings built on the AffintyMail GatewayCourier platform.
