Andy's early industry experience came with Webb Software Systems,
a business solutions software developer, and with what is now Allstream,
working in communications software development. His
subsequent employment with Northern Telecom Canada (now Nortel
Networks) from 1984 to 1989 laid the groundwork for his interest
in the leading-edge business communications industry. As a Systems
Manager for Nortel, he was responsible for production management and
shop-floor automation systems to support the manufacture of Nortel's
state-of-the-art DMS communications switching systems.
In 1989 Andy's entrepreneurial side took over, and he left Nortel
to assume the role of Senior Software Consultant with Vestronix
Inc., which at the time was the industry's leading developer of
C-language source code generation tools. He was part of the core
senior management team who created The Vestronix Software
Factory, a new enterprise with a remarkable new vision: to apply
the principles of Just-In-Time manufacturing to the creation of software
applications.
In 1991, recognizing the potential for application and communication
development tools, Andy took the bold step of turning A. Dunn Systems
(through which he had been working on application tools since 1987)
into a full-time venture. More than a decade later, Axis Computing Technologies boasts
state-of-the-art products and a service
portfolio perfectly aligned with the future of computing technology,
positioned to service and support the Business Internet now and
in the decades to come.
